The Tale of 1GNIK

1GNIK pronounced One KING is a homage to both founders’ shared dyslexic trait. The father and son duo of Walter and King Clark Moody founded 1GNIK on July 12, 2021          . Walter's background in entrepreneurship couldn’t help but notice the same initiative in his co-founder King after he made the independent decision to go into business for himself. The story goes that while at the store with his mother, King noticed a toy that he “desperately” wanted that cost a couple hundred dollars; however, his mother asked if he had any money for she was intentional with instilling the value of finances in her son. Much like most five year olds, his pockets were empty so sadly he responded “I don’t have any money” and his mother Vanessa replied “well you’re going to have to wait until you earn some money to buy it.” Nearby was a gentleman who overheard King’s dilemma so he politely intruded with a suggestion that would become a cornerstone for 1GNIK. The wasply man told King about a time during his youth that he painted rocks, sold them in the neighborhood and made money for his toys. With a new sense of hope, he turned to his mother and said “I want to sell rocks.” And as they say in the movies, the rest was history. King’s Rocks were a hit amongst the local community but also in surrounding states. It wasn’t long before King was back in that store to purchase that toy he so desperately wanted and unlike last time he in fact had money in his pocket.  Though depression was still very much part of Walter’s life during that time, his son’s will inspired him to return to the basis of his passions of art and business to create the “I Sell Rocks, Not Crack” shirts to compliment his son growing company to encourage the youth to tap into their entrepreneur creativity instead a life in the drug game. Never leaning not unto his understanding of life at that time, he went into prayer to speak life into his son’s new found passion and in the same breath spoke I Am into his life as well. While on the verge of completing his first published book “Moody Wuz Here”, Walter approached King Moody with the proposal to join endeavors in an effort to bring unity and understanding to the world and  create action plans for social changes through one God by the People. Whereas King responded, “Okay, Daddy”...”Now can I go watch YouTube” and Walter jokingly responded “Yes son, but just know that Okay Daddy is legally binding”
